Publishing

The Yomiuri Shimbun publishes books that draw on its voluminous news coverage. First put out in 1946, the Yomiuri Year Book chronicles each year's key events and sports achievements, and also includes a wide range of statistics. The Yomiuri Best Press Photos provides a look back at the past year through particularly notable news photographs.

The Yomiuri Shimbun also produces a variety of magazine-books on such topics like medicine, education and sports.

TV Programming: "Shinso ('Deep Level') News"

The Yomiuri Shimbun, in cooperation with BS Nippon Corp. and Nippon Television Network Corp. (NTV), produce "Shinso News," broadcast on the BS channel. Launched in the fall of 2013, "Shinso News" is a one-hour news discussion program that combines the power of printed and visual media.

Shinso News is broadcast Monday to Friday at 10 p.m., and hosted by The Yomiuri Shimbun's Keiko Iizuka, a Yomiuri Shimbun senior writer, specializing in politics.

The program covers a diverse range of topical issues that impact people's daily lives, from politics and the economy to medicine and health. With easy-to-understand commentary provided by the hosts, both news experts and news-makers engage in lively studio discussions to provide deeper insight. Important people from various fields, including Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, appeared as guests on the program. Readers can get a summary of each night's edition of Shinso News in the following day's issue of The Yomiuri Shimbun, as well as on the Yomiuri Online website.
